For the most part, I’ve looked at your work as the making of a historical record of the buildings/areas you depict. This is a wonderful example of the old and the new. In some cases, as buildings have been torn down and replaced, I wonder if perhaps, yours will be the only record of their existence! Just excellent!

Hi Sue – Well spotted! Yes, I make a point of showing the old and the new.
Also many of my sketches show views that will soon be obscured, for example by Crossrail developments or new buildings. See for example “Eglys Jewin” (https://janesketching.com/2018/02/11/eglwys-jewin-from-fortune-park/) which is a view across a building site, and “Crossrail site from Moorgate” (https://janesketching.com/2017/03/19/crossrail-site-from-moorgate/) which is across a site where the new Crossrail railway terminus will be built.
