Here is a sketch of St Mary Le Strand, which is the church in the middle of the Strand at Aldwych. I sketched this from outside Somerset House. As you see it was really busy there. The south part of Aldwych is being closed off to motor traffic and made a pedestrian-only route. It will be great when it’s finished, but right now it means that the busy pavements are narrowed with barriers and there are many types of confusion.

The foreground is collage, added after the drawing.
Here is work in progress and a map.

Thank you so much @penwithlit!
According to the church website it’s by James Gibbs (1682 – 1754): “The church is a fine and beautiful example of baroque design by James Gibbs, an architect of high technical competence and originality, informed by a sophisticated knowledge of ancient, Renaissance and contemporary European architecture. ” It was consecrated on 1st January 1724. James Gibbs also designed St Martin-in-the-Fields, which is not far away, on Trafalgar Square.
Your comment reminds me that I must get out there and sketch some Hawksmoor churches, in particular Christchurch Spitalfields which presides over the market.
